Hey guys!
I know its been awhile since I've posted (oops) :).....
But.....SCAD has been especially hectic this year with my new fashion classes, and the wonderful hurricane that came our way before school even started (second year in a row but whatever).
So my blog hasn't been particularly on my mind. But I'm back!
One of my classes I've had this year is Intro to Fashion. Its been super fun but also a ton of work. So I'm totally drained but its all good, because i made a really cool project i wanted to share with y'all!!!!!
Alrighty, so the prompt of this lovely project was to find a mid-century abstract art piece, and translate it into fashion. So for mine i chose a super colorful beautiful painting by Ferdinando Chevrier. I'm not totally sure how many hours went into this but I'm estimating about 24 hours in and out of class. The dress is made completely out of felt and is entirely hand painted. A lot of the stitching was also hand sewn so it wasn't visible through the fabric. Basically I have no energy left and more finals to do.....yikes. But, the project and photo shoot were so fun! My good friend Kourtney Goins was my lovely and gorgeous model! She was so helpful with styling, makeup, and even just being in that terrible dress for like two solid hours. I say terrible because she legit couldn't move and we had to really stuff her in there since the fabric did NOT budge, but its alright because she looked fantastic! (Pro tip: don't paint acrylic on felt, it will bring you and your poor model nothing but pain lol). Best part of the photo shoot was when we ubered to the location and Kourtney had to lay down in the back seat! All in all it was really sucessful and my professor liked it! (YAY). So i thought id share the couple photos I've gotten so far from our lovely photographer: Jenna Nabridge, as well as some process sketches, the original painting, and my mood board! I hope you enjoy them! Email me for any original designs or prints, I'm going to start an etsy soon with some sketches and prints :)! (exciting!!!) But for now if you want any designs or even want me to design you something and sew it for you, email me!
P.s: Keep an eye out for upcoming blogs while I'm on winter break!
